CHEP UK Receives the Prestigious RoSPA Gold Award
Weybridge, UK – May 2013 – CHEP, the world’s leading provider of pallet and container pooling solutions, announced today that the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) had recognised the company for its occupational safety and health programme.
RoSPA is a registered charity that has been at the heart of accident prevention in the UK and around the world for more than 90 years. The organisation presents non-competitive achievement awards based on an organisation’s individual occupational health and safety performance, accident records and overarching health and safety management systems, including practices such as leadership and workforce involvement. The awards aim to recognise the commitment to accident and ill-health prevention in businesses and organisations of all types and sizes in the UK and overseas.
RoSPA’s Awards Manager, David Rawlins, said: “RoSPA firmly believes that organisations that demonstrate commitment to continuous improvement in accident and ill health prevention deserve recognition. CHEP UK has shown that it is committed to striving for such continuous improvement and we are delighted to honour it through the presentation of an award.”
CHEP UK & Ireland Country General Manager, Howard Wigham, said: “This is a fantastic achievement by and for all our people, from our safety professionals helping with processes and frameworks to our leaders setting the tone, to all our frontline colleagues’ everyday thoughts and actions.”
Peter Rushforth, Director for Health & Safety in CHEP’s global Pallets operations, said: “We already know from our own statistics that our track record is strong and improving but to receive third-party recognition from an organisation such as RoSPA reinforces the conduct of all our employees and the commitment and expertise of our occupational health and safety professionals. I’m really proud of what they’ve achieved.”
The RoSPA Awards ceremony will take place at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel in the National Exhibition Centre, on Tuesday May 14, 2013, where CHEP will be presented the Gold Award.
